Free Training - Understanding the Principles and Techniques of Recording Bats

The BCT are inviting members to register their interest for an online workshop: 'Understanding the Principles and Techniques of Recording Bats', designed by bat acoustic specialist Martyn Cooke, which will be held in early July.

This free online workshop is aimed at bat group members who wish to learn more about bat acoustics. The workshop will cover the physics of sounds applied to bioacoustics, recording techniques to survey bats, tips on how to place the detector to record good quality bat calls, and the importance of bat call libraries. Through this workshop, you will also be introduced to the opportunity to help BCT collect reference calls of woodland bat species to aid BCT’s passive acoustic monitoring programmes.

Please register your interest via this form by 26th June: https://forms.office.com/e/DwWLGQNF57. BCT will contact you with the workshop details, dates and information on how to book your spot. The workshop will be held in one or two evening sessions, depending on the level of interest.

If you have any questions, please contact Agata Staniewicz at and Lia Gilmour at .
